CS UNDER 30

About the project

CS under 30 is an open call for performances of concert projects in the Carinthian Summer 2023 and is addressed to artists* or ensembles under the age of 30 from EU member states, EFTA countries and for Ukrainian refugees in Poland. The performances of the winning project(s) will take place in the Festival Carinthischer Sommer 2023 and in the Mittelfest 2023 in Cividale del Friuli.

The Idea

The new youth format in the Carinthian Summer, “CS under 30” is aimed at young artists and ensembles in the EU member states plus Switzerland, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway (EFTA countries).

The idea is to promote and present the diversity and quality of young art and music creation in Europe. The Carinthian Summer in Carinthia and the Middle Festival in Cividale, Friuli, see it as their task to strengthen the cultural diversity in the Alps-Adriatic region and beyond with this cooperation and to invite people from all over the world to visit their festivals.

The procedure

There are two separate calls: the Open Call of the Carinthian Summer and the Open Call of the Mittelyoung. The Open Call for the Mittellyoung format starts on December 15, 2022. From January 16, 2023 to March 15, 2023, musicians and ensembles can submit their projects for CS under 30. Interested parties can apply for both calls or only for one of the calls on the websites of the cooperation partners.

The winning projects will be selected by a jury of young curators under 30 for the Carinthian Summer and the Mittelyoung. The festival directors of both festivals have agreed to perform one of the winning projects of the other festival in their festival as well. The participating artists* or ensembles will be informed about the result of their submissions by email by April 14, 2023. The winning project will be announced via the festival website and social media.
