Topics: Is philosophy more than an argumentation technique?
Is the Language-Reality dichotomy a precondition for rational discourse? What is the Role of Reference?
Is the pursuit of truth indispensable for philosophy? Is Contingency unavoidable?
Lecture:
Truth and Reference. Remarks on the Direction of Thinking.
A successful pursuit of truth and knowledge presupposes:
(1) Dichotomic distinctions between language and reality, description and object
(2) the idea of reference
(3) the direction of the pursuit of knowledge to the object of knowledge
Philosophizing with these presuppositions is a technique of argumentation.
This argumentation technique is optional. We can opt for it or against it.
An alternative is being sketched.
