Event upon the campaign
Orange the World 2026

On the occasion of this year’s Orange the World campaign, we invite you to a discussion between Polish and Austrian activists against violence against women. We will talk about their experiences, the tools they use, and the situation of women in both countries, in Europe and worldwide.

The following speakers will take part:

Rosa Logar – Austrian activist and expert in preventing violence against women. Active in the women’s movement since the 1970s, she co-founded the first women’s shelter in Vienna, the Vienna Intervention Centre against Domestic Violence (Wiener Interventionsstelle gegen Gewalt in der Familie), and the European network WAVE. She helped shape the Austrian system for protecting victims of domestic violence and advises international institutions.

Alicja Serafin – lawyer, criminologist, Iberianist and researcher of gender-based violence against women with fatal outcomes (femicide). She is the author of the research project Femicide in Poland (www.femicideinpoland.pl), of the first report on femicide in Poland (“Kobietobójstwo w Polsce. Raport za lata 2017–2023” – Femicide in Poland: Report for 2017–2023), and of the doctoral dissertation “Femicide: Criminal Law and Criminological Aspects of Violence against Women in Poland and Spain”, defended at the Faculty of Law of the University of Warsaw (resolution of the University Council conferring the doctoral degree: 18 November). She was a scholarship holder at the University of Seville (2018) and has written academic articles on violence against women in Polish, English and Spanish, as well as expert publications for the Blue Line of the Institute of Health Psychology (Niebieska Linia IPZ), the Czas Kobiet Foundation and Feminoteka.

Aleksandra Świderska – Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Warsaw and head of the Chair of Psychology of Place and Social Change. Her research covers social cognition, social and intergroup relations, the psychology of emotion and psychophysiology. Her main focus is violence, especially verbal violence, including hate speech. She is a co-author of the report “Ale co takiego się wydarzyło? Raport z badania przemocy wobec kobiet mieszkających na wsi” (“But what exactly happened? Report on the study of violence against women living in rural areas”), commissioned by the Feminist Fund in 2026.

The discussion will be moderated by Paulina Januszewska, a journalist at GQ.pl, where she writes about interpersonal relationships at work and beyond, the impact of new technologies and pop culture on everyday life, and positive models of masculinity and femininity that do not have to exclude or fight each other. She has worked in the media for 10 years as a journalist, editor and podcaster, first at “Newsweek Polska” and later at “Krytyka Polityczna”, where she wrote mainly about human and animal rights. She is the author of the book “Gównodziennikarstwo. Dlaczego w polskich mediach pracuje się tak źle?” (“Sh*t Journalism: Why Is Working in the Polish Media So Bad?”). Her work has been recognized with, among other things, a nomination for Amnesty International’s Pióro Nadziei 2024 (“Pen of Hope”) and for the Zygmunt Moszkowicz Journalism Award “Człowiek z pasją” (“A Person with Passion”). She is a winner of the Journalists for the Climate (Dziennikarze dla Klimatu) competition and a graduate of the University of Warsaw. In her free time, she dances dancehall, lifts weights and is a compulsive crossword solver.

About the Campaign “Orange the World”
This year’s theme: Ensure justice, protect survivors, end impunity

From 25 November to 10 December 2026, mark the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence under the theme: “UNiTE to End Violence Against Women and Girls: Ensure justice, protect survivors, end impunity.”
Violence against women and girls affects one in three women. It is one of the most pervasive human rights violations worldwide, yet for many survivors, justice remains out of reach.
In parallel, funding cuts are reducing access to critical services and weakening the women’s rights organizations that help survivors navigate justice systems, obtain legal support, and rebuild their lives. For women in rural and remote areas and women and girls facing intersecting forms of discrimination and violence, the path to justice is even more challenging.
Strong laws matter – but laws alone are not enough. Survivors need safe ways to report violence, accessible and affordable support and services, and justice systems that respond effectively. This means holding perpetrators accountable and ensuring that institutions answer for failures that allow violence to continue with impunity.
The 2026 campaign calls for justice that works for all women and girls – whether at home, at work, in public life, or across digital spaces. Building on the 2025 focus on digital violence, this year’s campaign recognizes that violence online and offline happens on a continuum, with the two often overlapping and reinforcing each other. They require commitment and action on prevention, protection, accountability, and redress.
