Gaming @AFK kicks off the new season with a special talk by Raphael Varga, Combat Designer at Bloober Team. During the event, Raphael will discuss the process of creating, balancing, and implementing complex combat systems in games. He will share his experiences working on games, where creating engaging and realistic combat mechanics was crucial. The talk is aimed at aspiring game designers, students, and anyone interested in game development. After the talk, there will be a Q&A session, followed by a networking opportunity to connect with the speaker. The event will be conducted in English.

Raphael Varga is an Austrian game developer with more than ten years of experience. After completing his education at HTL Spengergasse, he moved to Poland to further his career in the games industry. He worked as a game & level designer for Showgunners (94% userscore on Steam), lead designer for an indie action adventure game in a Stranger Things-like setting with focus on platforming and combat mechanics and was game director for the tactical medieval RPG Band of Crusaders. He currently works at Bloober Team developing combat systems for Cronos: The New Dawn. Based on his experience in system design in various game genres and his expertise in both turn-based and real-time combat design, Raphael Varga offers valuable insights into the world of modern game development.
