Smart Cities:
Warsaw and Vienna in Dialogue

First event from the Smart Cities series! Different solutions implemented in Warsaw and Vienna will be compared. Special guest: Lena Rücker (Stadt Wien)

Vienna is a constantly evolving Smart City, committed to a social, a human approach. “Smart” solutions are neither purely technical nor an end in themselves, but must always focus on a city´s inhabitants and their quality of life. High quality public transportation and short walking distances, combined with easily accessible public infrastructure and mixed use quarters are at the centre of the city’s efforts for resilient urban structures, that are suitable for the everyday lives of all its citizens. In this session, you will get to know the city of Vienna and it´s strategic Smart City approach as well as gain some insight into current projects and challenges from the area of mobility and public space.

Lena Rücker is an urban planning officer at the City of Vienna’s Municipal Department for Urban Planning and Urban Development.

In her work, she focusses on Smart City issues, in particular on the development and transformation of existing urban structures, the redistribution an redesign of public space as well as gender-sensitive urban planning.
