Trans Identities Across Borders:
Legal, Social, and Personal Perspectives

Organizers: Austrian Cultural Forum, Lambda Warszawa, Unipride

An open discussion in English that explores the complex and evolving topic of trans identity. The event will feature a conversation between Dr. Drobetz, Miłosz Przepiórkowski of Lambda Warszawa, offering diverse perspectives from both Austria and Poland, with broader comparisons to the European, UK, and US contexts.

The discussion will delve into the legal and social realities faced by trans individuals, past and present, highlighting Austria as a model for LGBT+ inclusivity. Connected topics will include queer parenthood, the experiences and identities of trans children and adolescents, and the role of trans individuals in sports. The conversation aims to provide a nuanced, respectful, and engaging examination of these interrelated themes, drawing on professional expertise and lived experience.

Following the panel, the audience is invited to participate in an open Q&A session. The event is intended as a space for open dialogue and deeper understanding of the realities and challenges surrounding trans identities today.

Dr. Reinhard Drobetz: 
Clinical Psychologist and Health Psychology; Doctoral or PhD studies in Zurich, Switzerland; Psychotherapist (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist; Editor-in-Chief of the journal psychotherapie forum; Certificate of Qualification in Trans*Gender, Trans*Identities; Lectures on clinical-psychological diagnostics of gender incongruence; Working in private practice as well as a consultant and Secretary General of the counseling center COURAGE in Vienna and St. Pölten, Austria (Partner, Family & Sexual Counseling Center for the LGBTQIA+ Community); Main areas of work: Transition support; Children and adolescents with gender incongruence; Support for relatives and parents (TRANS*PARENTS group)

Miłosz Przepiórkowski: He studied intercultural psychology at SWPS University and German studies at the University of Warsaw. A language teacher, translator, and proofreader, he has been involved with Lambda Warszawa since 2017 and has served as a board member since January 2020. Since 2018, he has led a support group within Lambda Warszawa dedicated to bi+ individuals. As a board member, he is responsible for the “Culture” section, which includes granting patronage as well as organizing cultural events, including those related to the LGBT Film Festival. Together with Agata Maksimowska, he co-authored Kropka nad BI ("The Dot over the BI"), the first book in Central and Eastern Europe entirely dedicated to the bi+ umbrella. In his private life, he is a passionate fan of independent cinema, reads anything he can get his hands on, and enjoys theatre.
