This exhibition, based on an artistic dialogue between Polish and Austrian creators, brings together two Ukrainian artists. Migration and refugee experiences have led Yuriy Biley to live in Wrocław and Kateryna Lysovenko in Vienna. They are connected not only by their country of origin, which is at war, but also by the way they express their experiences across different media.

Both Lysovenko’s paintings and Biley’s photography, video, and installations are personal yet universal expressions of the complex experience of leaving one’s homeland and adapting to a new place. Both remain in continuous connection with events in Ukraine and their loved ones there, while actively participating in the everyday life and their immediate surroundings.

  

Kateryna Lysovenko observes the residents of Vienna with sensitivity and understanding, seeing reflections of her own complex experiences in everyday people and situations. For Yuriy Biley, daily contact with his closest family is an intimate exchange of words and images, moving in its laconic tone and repetition. The layering of memories and present experiences in their work offers a contemporary perspective on a reality in which information, people, and events flow continuously and simultaneously.
