March 8th: International Women's Day
At the Austrian Cultural Forum in Warsaw, we celebrate Women's Day all year round! Many of the events we organise offer a closer look at the figures and achievements of women: writers, poets, artists, dancers, and scientists.

As part of the series Austria/Poland. Critical Laboratory, we hold meetings focused on the works of female writers and poets from Austria and Poland. Every two months, we try to compare and analyse texts by authors such as Elfriede Jelinek, Bożena Umińska-Keff, Christine Lavant, Olga Hund, Ilse Aichinger, Friederike Mayröcker, Ingeborg Bachmann, Marlene Streeruwitz, Barbara Frischmuth, Dorota Masłowska, Dorota Kotas, and Zyta Rudzka, so that new contexts and fields of reference for their writing can emerge. This year, the already beloved series Austrian Literature and Psychoanalysis will once again have a focus on the work of the Austrian Nobel Prize winner and feminist Elfriede Jelinek. We hope that – following our invitation – contemporary Austrian women writers such as Laura Freudenthaler, Elisabeth Klar, Lydia Mischkulnig, and Katharina Winkler will visit Poland in person in the next few weeks.

For many years now, we have been co-organising lecture series Jewish Women held by Bella Szwarcman-Czarnota – editor and columnist of the Jewish magazine Midrasz. This year's series theme is Proverbs. A virtuous woman, who will find her?

Last week, we co-organised the EUNIC – Noc Kobiet na Jasnej event, which featured female electronic music stars from all across Europe, including Rosa Anschütz from Austria. The event was accompanied by a discussion about the feminisation of club culture.
