Telematic art – Echtzeitkunstwelt at PSNC Future Labs

We would like to invite you to a meeting and workshop with the creators of the Echtzeitkunstwelt project: Renata Kreil, Dominik Grünbühel and Norbert Unfug aka Martin Chiettini, who will present the technology they have developed and introduce the audience to the arcana of working on telematic performances. Echtzeitkunstwelt's activities overcome the limitations of remote production and presentation of performing arts, reducing not only the production costs but also the ecological costs. Most importantly, it expands the field of artistic creation and interaction design between audience and performer.

Echtzeitkunstwelt is a platform that allows artists from all over the world to realise telematic theatrical performances in virtual reality. Through the interaction of different art forms (puppet theatre, music, dance, visual arts, etc.), the project explores the possibilities of performance and interaction between audience and performer in digital space - which is always adapted to the location.

The project consists of virtual musical instruments that can be remotely controlled and used to process sounds, beats and samples with three-dimensional objects to create an interactive, individual or group choreography. Visitors can influence the course of events by looking around or moving around the space. The control elements are distributed throughout the performance space and allow for active participation by the participants.

The visit of Echtzeitkunstwelt will also be a preparatory phase for the first full presentations of this project in Poland, which will be carried out in cooperation with the Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Centere, Adam Mickiewicz University, Kòniclab of Barcelona and the Axis Cactus Foundation.

The Echtzeitkunstwelt project is implemented by the Austrian research centre ACOnet, which is part of the Austrian National Research and Education Network (NREN) for science, research, education, art and culture.
